چکیده
There are several assistive devices for personal mobility of visually impaired person around crossings. To safely access the crossing, it is very important to maintain continuity between Tactile Walking Surface Indicators and audible traffic signals. This study evaluates the continuity among devices around crossings.

Blind User Requirements to Support Tactile Mobility
Various innovations have been identified in assistive technology for the visually impaired. One of these innovations are systems that present feedback and information in a tactile format. These tactile systems have the potential to help the visually impaired, but there is little attention to how it can be combined with other assistive technology. In this research, we present a set of user requi...
متن کاملSensor Based Assistance System for Visually Impaired
This paper is focussed to develop an electronic navigation system for visually impaired, that makes use of sensors for obstacle detection. People who are visually impaired struggle every day in performing actions that can be as simple as moving from one point to another without falling down or knocking against obstacles. An Electronic Travel Aid (ETA) is a form of assistive technology having th...
متن کاملMobile assistive technologies for the visually impaired.
There are around 285 million visually impaired people worldwide, and around 370,000 people are registered as blind or partially sighted in the UK. Ongoing advances in information technology (IT) are increasing the scope for IT-based mobile assistive technologies to facilitate the independence, safety, and improved quality of life of the visually impaired. Research is being directed at making mo...
متن کاملRGB-D Sensor-Based Computer Vision Assistive Technology for Visually Impaired Persons
A computer vision-based wayfinding and navigation aid can improve the mobility of blind and visually impaired people to travel independently. In this chapter, we focus on RGB-D sensor-based computer vision technologies in application to assist blind and visually impaired persons. We first briefly review the existing computer vision based assistive technology for the visually impaired. Then we p...
متن کاملTechnology Based Aid for the Visually Impaired
This dissertation presents a system that can assist a person with a visual impairment in both navigation and mobility. To date, a reliable solution has not been put forward to replace the legacy devices currently used in mobilizing and navigating on a daily basis for people with a visual impairment. This report first examines the problem at hand and the motivation behind addressing it, then exp...
